Stick and Poke Tattoo Using Porcupine Quills (OF COURSE IT HURT!)

Today’s episode is sponsored by Inkbox, who makes realistic-looking temporary tattoos that last 1-2 weeks. Head to to pick your own tattoo out of a huge catalog of designs from the world’s top tattoo artists.

DON’T TRY THIS AT HOME! DIY tattoos have been a thing all throughout history, but today, Lauren is going to try and give me a completely homemade tattoo using a porcupine quill in the old stick and poke method. Cross your fingers for me!

  1. Porcupine quills are actually a horrible tattoo needle. The layers of the quill are layers like snake scales. Thus acting like a barb. This increases damage. A bone needle would be a much better way.

  2. Stick and poke tattoos really don’t hurt. I have two and the first one did hurt like hell but it was because my friend went way too deep at times (thankfully it didn’t cause a blowout). The second one was done myself and since I had control over it and could feel the pain it was easy and virtually painless, imagine trying to draw on your skin with a pencil a few times over and that’s basically the same amount of pain
