But theyre both diamonds… gems only look down upon fusion of two different kind of gems.
If this were the case that the Diamonds withheld the information from homeworld, then that would mean that they only withheld it from gems that were made in era 1, and era 2 gems were made too late to have any knowledge of the gem war. Afterall, how would they have sent ANY gem to check the status of the cluster, if they wanted to keep it secret? Peridot 5-XG was sent to Earth by Yellow Diamond to check the status and progression of the cluster. When Pearl said to her that they were the CRYSTAL gems, she seemed confused reiterating the word Crystal. So that would truly imply that she wasn't very knowledegable of the events of the gem war. But if this is the case, how does Jasper know about this anyway? After all we know that she's a war veteran and that she was there fighting some of the troops of Rose Quartz. So that means she's era 1. So wouldn't that ALSO mean that she shouldn't know about the truth of the cluster? Leads me to believe that the only gems that the info wasn't withheld from are gems that fought in the war/experienced first hand, and era 2 gems. It's also possible (and dark) that when Peridot and Jasper had returned to Homeworld successfully, they would have either been harvested, or shattered to prevent the information from spreading. but what do u think? This was a great video, and I'm really glad that you adressed this topic. I also love inserting my thoughts in the comment section.
What if rose quartz and pink diamond fused to fight yellow and blue diamond. During the fight like pink diamond unfused to protect rose quartz from shattering and got shattered by the diamond fusion. Maybe pink diamond decided to rebel and special made rose quartz……

Know about the diamond attack
I have a question about the cover up if this is known knowledge in home world that the earth is destroyed in the diamond attack the what about peridot, jasper, and the rubies they all went to earth with a mission and didn't act at all surprise that the earth is there. Even further with a line peridot said, "it will be easy they said." In an earlier episode mean other gems know about the earth. Unless certain gems in the diamonds court know this is fake and a cover but that would create some sort of chaos in home world with this knowledge.
I just want to point that out I have no further input but now I have questions.
I wanted to leave this comment on one of Slice of Otaku's White Diamond videos but I can't find it now =[. Anyway, Imo I think that WD has most likely past away. Sure her murals are always seen but nobody talks about her, not even common gems that should be bragging about how great she was/is or even the other Diamonds, not even a brief "Oh, White Diamond would have done this or that!" The equivalent, I can describe it as, is George Washington or past Pres. on currancy. You see their portrait but nobody really talks about them as if they knew/know them.
Aren't fusions outside of your gem type considered "off color"? I believe if the diamonds actually did use fusion, they wouldn't be considered off color because it's a diamond with a diamond, not a situation like Garnet. She's a fusion of Ruby and Sapphire. Just something I thought of while watching haha.
If new gems are made at Kindergardens, by machines, who made the diamonds? Who was the first gem?
its kind of strange how even though we know Peridot isnt a high ranking gem she was allowed to know the earth still existed.

otaku, I have never commented before, but I've loved SU since day one, especially since I'm a gemologist. and I have a few theories of my own. first is white diamond- I don't think she is her own entity. I think she is the fusion of the three diamonds. OR she was the original gem and split herself into three entities with three separate personalities which is why the moon goddess statue in the sea spire looks like her with two hands holding something and her mural on the moon has dots equal to the sum of the dots of the rest and why she is always on top of the diamond authority symbol. while geologically, white diamonds are pure carbon and fancy diamonds have impurities that change their color so combining them chemically in fusion makes no sense, BUT if you take into account that fusion works more or less based on light principles, it does. red (pink) blue and yellow light make white. red and blue make purple (garnet) yellow and blue make green (malachite), same principle with Sugilite, rhodonite (which is a type of garnet, btw) and Sardonyx. however, this isn't applicable with Smokey, however, chemically, taking rose quartz and amethyst quarts would more or less make smokey. hence why I think that white diamond is an amalgam of the three in some sort. second, I think the reason that fusion is taboo bases off that being true. It's taboo because it should only be reserved for the diamonds. fluorite and malachite make this clear because it is a known fact in gem universe that fusion makes gems much stronger, possibly even rivaling a diamond, so the diamond authority made it seem unclean for a lesser get but a diamond to be able to fuse as it's "an affront to the gods" third, the diamond weapon, I don't believe, worked the way it should have. I think the weapon was supposed to be the fusion into white diamond and her power, but with pink diamond disposed, when yellow and blue tried to fuse, it didn't work as expected and, instead of shattering all the enemy gems, it just corrupted them and left survivors. fourth and finally is the temple gem- I saw your theory on crocheting and it makes sense, but, based on hi most fusion works, they combine to make a more rare and valuable gem. and knowing that 4 of the 5 stones, minus rose, make alexandrite, and stone much more rare than diamond, actually, that calchedony would actually be a downgrade as calchedony is mostly a blanket term go stones like Sardonyx (a gem that makes up alexandrite) , bloodstone, and agate (including holly blue agate) which leads to: what's more rare than alexandrite, who would be a one of a kind fighting machine being the fusion of 4 separate and powerful gems but adding in rose, who is far more powerful and superior than the individuals? Painite. Painite is the absolute most rare mineral on earth, and here's why I chose that. painite is the rarest on earth and, the fusion of the 5 would be the rarest fusion ever, really (I don't include flourite here because she may be thicc but she isn't a fighter and we don't really know what she is) and would have only existed on earth, why not make her the rarest on earth? and also color scheme. if you take the colors of alexandrite, which are mostly red, black, and a little green, add rose quarts, and look at painite the stone, it's actually dark red, dark green and red or even a deep purple or pink, usually containing multiple colors. so it works based on the upgrades of rarity and on the light spectrum. (garnet doesn't actually apply to the rarity upgrade as sapphire and ruby, which are both precious conundrums, to make a semi precious silicate garnet? rhodanite is actually an upgrade to a ruby and a pearl, but not garnet lol but that may be what makes her more disrespectful anyways. smokey is in the middle because smokey is more rare than amethyst, but not rose, but you also have the human factor from Steven) they're not perfect theories but hey.
Homeworld doesn't have anything against fusion of the same gems (good example is the rubies, who fused in front of blue d. and in the answer there were sent three of them ESPECIALLY to fuse) so I don't think that green d (fusion of yellow and blue d) is an off colored gem.
In my opinion, White Diamond was involved in the Pink Diamond shatering. White created an "opening" for Rose, who attacked and puffed Pink Diamond, then White pretended to attack Rose, aiming at Pink's gem, shatering it. But it wasn't an alliance, Garnet told Steven that Rose did it to Garnet to be herself, and to pearl to be free. In my opinion, it was an agreement, pearl must have been captured and for her to be free, Rose agreed to make part of this betrail (sorry, I dont speak english)

I had been thinking about everything that's been revealed recently and I started to wonder about Rose and Steven's ability to revive the dead. Now, the Crystal Gems didn't know about Lion until Steven introduced them, meaning Rose kept it a secret, which would mean that she kept her revival powers a secret. First off, why would she keep these powers a secret? Second, did she use this power more than once? Third, did Pink Diamond have, or intentionally create, these powers? Fourth,did the Diamonds KNOW that Rose had these powers and what they could do to the beings that were revived? Lastly, was this power shared by EVERY Rose Quartz gem?
If every Rose Quartz, plus Pink Diamond herself, had this power and the Diamonds knew about it, is it crazy to think that maybe they were afraid of Pink Diamond's court, that with Rose's power to revive dead organic life as being with great power they were threat to their way of life, their authority? Could this be a possible motive to why Pink was shattered? For fear that her court was a threat to their society? Also, since it looks like Pink Diamond could be the one who bubbled the Rose Quartz Gems, could she have done it to keep them safe so their power could be preserved?

I have a theory for you, what if ( I do stretch the word IF) White Diamond and Black Diamond are the same being?! Let's say some time White Diamond some how got corrupted during the Gem War and started to develop a split personally, and it called itself Black Diamond. Then slowly over time Black Diamond was getting stronger and stronger, being the dominant personality. So for White Diamond to gain control it had to rip out and eject a piece of black diamond and that's the one we saw in one of the temples. Plus it's also the reason why we haven't seen White Diamond at the trial. So what do you think?
The Dimonds don't condone fusion, they condone fusion among different gems, ie they are okay with rubies fusing, but they are not okay with a ruby and a sapphire fusing, or a ruby and a pearl fusing. But a diamond and a diamond fusing, for them that is okay.

They do condon fusing but only same gem fusions. Yes their fusion would be off colored, but we have not seen or touched upon a fusion with same gems that are different colors. Simply because same gems are the same color also the dimonds are the only gems that have different colors (besides the zircons). You could argue that some betas are off colored but they have not said on the show that they are not allowed to fuse, we have just not seen them fused and they have not said on the show that it is forbidden either.
Are you sure they lied on purpose? Maybe "decimated by the diamond attack" means something along the lines of "every gem on earth was eradicated", not necessarily that the planet itself was destroyed, which from their point of view was correct as they didn't know about the surviving crystal gems until recently.
Steven could easily prove he isn't Rose, by either pulling down his pants… or bleeding (preferably the ladder)

OKAY SO MY HYPOTHETICAL THEORY HAS ABSOLUTELY NO REAL BASE BUT WHAT IF PINK WASNT SHATTERED BUT FELL INLOVE WITH A HUMAN AND HAD A HALF GEM KID AND THATS WHY ROSE KNEW SHED NEED TO GIVE UP HER FORM FOR STEVEN, BC SHE HAD ALREADY SEEN IT HAPPEN.
Only cross gem fusion looks to be banned, the diamonds have different colors, but that dose not make them different gems.
