  1. Ever since My Little Pony Friendship is Magic I have learned to not be prejudiced against remakes. Because that show has an old concept I thought that the remake was just lazy marketing with the intent to capture 80’s nostalgia while giving it a whole new look. After watching the show and learning the new story to an old concept I loved it. So when I saw this new design of the show SheRa I decided to remain open and I am glad that I did. I love the emotional depth to the characters in this show. Both the original and the new show have a great story behind it with wonderful world building. I do find some new characters annoying when I compare them to the original show characters but I am not really sure why. I love how much more involved the characters are in the new telling especially with Catra, Adora and Shadow Weaver. There’s more of a struggle with our main heroine both physically and emotionally as she also struggles to control her newfound abilities. Catra goes through her own moments of self discovery and proves to be a worthy adversary even in one on one combat with SheRa. The characters are now more relatable and while neither is right or wrong it is easy to see from each different perspective why they can’t be on the same level as they used to be.

  2. I agree with you but I also noticed that a lot of Catra’s unusual behaviours are actually symptoms of borderline. Also borderline personality disorder can be caused by early childhood experiences and the environment you grow up in. And since Catra is an abuse survivor from a very young age and also grew up in the horde, there is a high chance.

  3. While fueled mostly by anger and pain, I still find that they have done a REALLY good character arch for Catra.
Any time she tries to open up to someone, she only gets hurt and/or betrayed. The knife is twisted just right close to every time. Everything just goes against her, and anytime she is close to validation or affirmation. Someone else just swoops in with skill or talent in something Catra can't compete with. Not to mention: She feels betrayed by nearly everyone. And looked down upon by the rest. A part I found just so great, was that when she desperately saw a glimmer of light in her "completely fucked" situation, and just leaped for it. Which, turns out was a trap. Or rather: A test. That turns out that SHE betrayed basically the only person that DID actually have faith in her. (from her perspective, people that "mattered")

Making it an even harder fall for her. They really do WONDERS with her body language, and well: everyone's really.
But the mix of guilt, "IT'S NOT FAIR!" and the "Why…?" is just gold to me.
I am really anxious of what will happen to her.

  4. What I love so much about She-ra is the in-depth, well-developed, interesting and engaging characters and how they relate to one another through realistic, emotional interaction! Even side characters get developed and so do their relationships through short clips or conversations, and I just love this.

Catra is certainly one of the best villains Netflix has seen for some time. She's driven by an understandable, if morally wrong motive, and that's something a villain should always have. Furthermore, her whole character, personality, appearance and backstory, and her actions and the actions taken directly or indirectly toward her throughout the show, make the watcher actually like her, and oftentimes I find myself conflicted between rooting for Adora or her! It's surprisingly effective, the show writer's successful attempt at making me try to choose who I should root for – Adora, who is doing the right thing for the right reason, and Catra, who's doing the wrong thing for mismatched, borderline gray-area reasons.

I feel sorry for both of them. Adora has done everything she always could to help her friend, trying to repay Catra for Shadow Weaver's abusive actions by protecting her to an extent, comforting her, and generally being a good friend, and it only makes sense for her to do so. She didn't want to leave Catra, but her moral idealism drove her to do what she thinks is right. Catra, on the other hand, has gotten used to being treated as Adora's pet – something to amuse the blonde, keep her attention and something for Adora to 'care' for. Not really a person at all. She doesn't like the status thrust toward her, the status of 'pet' and she hates the fact that it drives her from her friend, but is motivated rather selfishly (But understandably and even relatable) by how badly she wants to prove herself, prove that she isn't just Adora' shadow, there to satisfy the girl. She hurts Adora wrongfully, but she sees what she does from a different viewpoint than Adora does.

I can so relate to these feelings Catra has!

It's really sad, my heart is cracking. I a hundred percent hope they can be friends again and am even hoping they end up lovers, cuz we all know they're totally gay for each other.

I hope Catra is able to see her own flaws, and I hope Adora is able to understand Catra a little better. <3

  6. Since Catra and Adora got stuck together, everytime they fight they go all out without even thinking. I don’t know what happened there, but my headcanon is that after that day they were trying to cover their feelings for each other with a made up hate, and believe me I’ve been through that. Of course I’m a Catradora shipper, but I also like Glimmadora and Catra x Scorpia (Catrorpia?) since season 2. I don’t know man, they pretty much behave like I did with my crush (it wasn’t even a little crush, I fucking loved them) I think this might mean that they have really strong feelings for each other. They act furiously, like wanting to get that person out of their life but still wanting them. It’s the “my mind says no but my heart say yes” kinda situation.

    I don’t know though. It’s just a headcanon.
