  2. Thanks for the videos , they're fun, always think I'm slowly learning something, until I try to solve the next puzzle. Sometimes frustrating, e.g. 23:50 "This is an obvious choice". Not obvious for me, spent about an hour going nowhere… Why is it obvious? What am I looking for that makes it obvious…How do I know, when to search for x-wing, when chain? what to look for in finding a chain? when is not good time for empty rectangle, etc. But always enjoyable even when I can't do them…

  3. I like to play the puzzle before watching and solved this by using your technique of examining each cell in a box and employing a few x-wings. Admittingly, I'm not familiar with XYZ-Wings, Y Wings and XY Chains but will learn them if it'll make my sudoku life easier 🙂

  4. I have such a difficult time spotting the more "visual" kind of patterns like Swordfish and sometimes even X-wings. Then I end up in my desperation doing Quad-forcing or some long ass alternating inference chain, sweating actual blood, then I put it in a solver and it solves it with pointing pairs and simple colouring lmao.

  5. At about the 18 minute mark why did you choose column two for the 8 x-wing instead of column three? Does the fact that the finned x-wing possibility in column three has a 'broken' wing have anything to do with that choice?

  6. I would just like some more explanation on the xwing, the top left corner also has a 4 option,. so you have three fins that is not part of the x wing. This is strange to me how we can then consider it as a x wing?

  7. If you were playing say a 16 by 16 sudoku grid wouldn't it be better to set a first and second square and for the computer to from basic rules show up where pairs ect are a bit like mine sweeper in reverse. I call them crab nets and the technique crab fishing and 2 pincers is more efficient than one or three pincers.

  8. All hard sudoku puzzles come with at least one difficult test of logic than unlocks the game and this one had 4 or 5 such occasions. I think you found this harder than any standard puzzle! I also hate to use full notations so that some squares have 5-6 possibilities. I'm currently cracking most 'master' level puzzles but not all!
