Top 5 Gundam Games That Can Be Played on PC

Gundam (ガンダム, Gandamu), also known as the Gundam series (ガンダムシリーズ一覧, Gandamu Shirīzu ichiran), is a Japanese science fiction media franchise/media mix created by Yoshiyuki Tomino and Sunrise that features giant robots (mecha) with the name “Gundam” (after the original titular mecha). The franchise began on April 7, 1979 with Mobile Suit Gundam, a TV series that defined the “real robot” mecha anime genre by featuring giant robots called mobile suits in a militaristic setting.
Mobile Suit Gundam was developed by animator Yoshiyuki Tomino and a changing group of Sunrise creators with the collective pseudonym of Hajime Yatate. The series was originally entitled Freedom Fighter Gunboy (or Gunboy) for the robot’s gun, with teen boys the primary target demographic. Early production had a number of references to freedom: the White Base was originally “Freedom’s Fortress”, the Core Fighter was the “Freedom Wing” and the Gunperry was the “Freedom Cruiser”. The Yatate team combined the English word “gun” with the last syllable of the word “freedom” to form the portmanteau Gundom. Tomino changed it to Gundam, suggesting a unit wielding a gun powerful enough to hold back enemies like a hydroelectric dam holding back water.[7] In keeping with the concept, Gundams are depicted as prototypes or limited-production, with higher capabilities than mass-produced units.

Most Gundams are large, bipedal, humanoid vehicles controlled from a cockpit by a human pilot. The cockpit is located in the torso, while the head serves as a camera to transmit images back to the cockpit. Most of the series protagonists are Newtypes, genetically advanced humans adapted for space. Newtypes have psychic abilities that enable them to sense each other across space and to utilize special mobile suits.

The series itself has been described as a space opera.

The Gundam franchise had grossed over $5 billion in retail sales by 2000.[3][4] By 2014, annual revenue of the Gundam franchise reached ¥80 billion per year,[5] ¥18.4 billion of which was retail sales of toys and hobby items.[5] As of 2018, Gundam is one of the top 15 highest-grossing media franchises of all time,[6] estimated to have generated more than $20 billion in total revenue.[a]

Also I want to add a few honorable mentions which should have been in the video:
-Gundam Rengou Vs ZAFT Portable for the PSP (playable with PPSSPP)
-Dynasty Warriros Gundam 2 for the PS2 (playable with the PCSX2)
-SDGO – well this one is FOR THE PC so it’s obvious, I play on the Taiwan server (123q456w789e is my name there)
-MSGO – again, its for the PC and it’s hard to set up if you don’t live in Japan , THAT DOESN’T MEAN it’s IMPOSSIBLE but I had a few issues trying to set it up
-UCGO – a pretty decent MMO Gundam game for the PC
And that’s about it , there are a 2 recently announced Gundam games for the PC which I will try when they are released. Those games are : SD Gundam Next Evolution and Gundam Diorama Front.

  1. check out SD G-NEXT for the super nintendo/famicom. its like the sd strategy games (because it is one), but with one BIG difference. REALTIME COMBAT WHEN YOUR UNITS GO HEAD TO HEAD! i hate battle animations that are decided for me. A true newtype pilots his own mobile suit instead of relying on dolls to do it for him.

  2. #5 Dreamcast doesn't emulate without disc burning does it. #4 Is in the Super Robot Wars series, could use some English story translation. #3 I'm nor sure what your trying to show here. #2 I played some of this before had no idea what I was doing because it was all Japanese text. #1 Gundam Vs Gundam Next Plus played the game some the frames can tend to be a bit glitchy imo.

  6. Yo man, super late to comment on this but how did you get your Gundam Side Story working properly? I was trying to do it but it kept coming through super choppy, stuttery, and laggy with tons of graphical issues that made it impossible to play the game (no command screen to name one). Did yours just work right away without any setting changes?

  7. you know, the franchise has so much going for them but they seem unable to make a AAA Gundam Game. the franchise has made well over 18 billion dollars in its being. they could easily put effort into a game.

  8. An emulator for the PS3 really needs to be done. I have little interest in playing PSP Gundam games and I played all of the PS2 Gundam games released to the West.

Honestly, it would be nice if Bandai Namco would just release Gundam games to PC instead of us having to rely on emulators.
